Product Description

Dermatologists have been using Blue Light Therapy to reduce and eliminate acne breakouts for over 20 years. This technology is FDA Approved and has been proven effective in numerous clinical studies conducted by the American Academy of Dermatology and the British Academy of Dermatology. Blue Light Therapy is safe and effective, but it has never been affordable for the average acne sufferer.

Trophy Skin was formed by a group of professionals from the medical aesthetics industry, and the founders previously owned a medical spa that has performed thousands of laser and light based skin rejuvenation treatments. We set out to create a device that reduces and eliminates acne using clinically proven technology, while remaining affordable for people from all walks of life.

Trophy Skin uses a proprietary, custom-manufactured bulb that emits the exact spectrum of light needed to kill acne causing bacteria. Trophy Skin is used to prevent acne breakouts before they form, reduce the severity of acne after it has formed, and over time, permanently reduce or remove acne from your life. The light causes the bacteria to die, which in turn shrivels the pimples, pustules, and cysts on your skin. Consistent use of Blue Light Therapy also helps decrease the amount of oil and sebum on your skin, and has been shown to shrink the pore size in some individuals. Goggles included for your convenience.

A Note on Handheld Devices: Try holding your hand up to your face for 10, 15, or 20 minutes. It won't work, we promise. Handheld devices are usually under-powered as it is, since they run on batteries. Add to that the short amount of time you would actually hold it to your face, and you get a recipe for disappointment.

I am probably a more advanced consumer of light therapy treatments than most, I’ve been going to medspa’s for things like laser hair removal, fotofacials, and laser skin tightening treatments.

I discovered blue light therapy for acne several years ago at my dermatologists office, they had this huge machine that I would sit under for 30 minutes two or three times per week. It worked great, but it was a total pain to go out there so many times, not to mention expensive. So I tried a few of the handheld acne light thingies, which probably would have worked except I could never stand to hold it to my face for more than 5 minutes. So when I heard about the bluemd from a friend, I tried it. The difference is huge, it is so comfortable. You lay under it just like in the derm’s office, but in the comfort of your own home. Personally, it seems to work just as well as the one at the doc’s office, as far as strength goes. I can actually feel it pulsating on the acne, which is the same sensation I used to get.

I bought this acne treatment device several months ago after hearing about it from a friend. Personally, I’m not really an acne sufferer, per se, but just get mild breakouts from time to time like most normal people. I was thinking, if there is a better way to make those go away faster and easier, I’m all for it. Needless to say, this stuff does work, all you do is sit under the lamp and you can really feel it working. I use it as soon as I feel something coming on, and usually it prevents the breakout from coming through. If I catch the breakout once it has already happened, a few days of continuous use helps quite a bit. It does the job for my breakouts.

I have only had a few days to use the BlueMD device, but it already seems to be killing bacteria in my skin and reducing redness. Overall I’m very happy with the purchase – it is far more convenient and cost effective than professional sessions. Also, unlike with some products, you do NOT need to hold your hand up to your face for 20 min., which you will find becomes so annoying that you will not adequately use the blue light and as a result you will not see results. The BlueMD light seems to have very good light intensity, which is another important difference from other products. I added some weight to the base of mine to make it more stable so that it doesn’t get knocked over and break the bulbs…I think this would be a design improvement, but it’s no big deal.

This blue light really works. It has cleared up my skin and it continues to improve with continued use. It does not produce any skin redness or sunburn because there is no UV light. It takes just 20 minutes per day for three days per week.

I ordered this light to help clear up moderate acne around my jawline and noticed a difference within a week. I initially had a problem with the unit itself, the portion that holds the light became loose and I had to hold it in place with my hands.

After seeing my review, the company immediately sent me a new light (without my request) which was a wonderful surprise. There are NO problems at all with the new unit, works great.

I’m now using the unit about once a week to maintain the clarity of my skin and love the results and would recommend to anyone that has problems with acne.

My daughter is now 16, but has been suffering from fairly severe acne since she was 13. We started out with the usual stuff from the drugstore, but quickly realized that she needed something stronger. We went to the dermatologist and ever since, she has been on some sort of antibiotics. She has even been on Accutane for a while.

About a year and a half ago we decided to try blue light treatments at the local medspa here in town. She went twice a week for 6 weeks, and we saw results within just a few treatments. Only problem was we that it was a huge drain on our family schedule to take her there and back so many times. Also, we ended up spending almost $3000 by the end of her six week sessions.

That is when we discovered home blue light therapy and decided to try the Blue MD. This device has just been amazing on so many fronts. Her acne came back a few months after her last treatment at the medspa, so we really saw the Blue MD work before our eyes. It reduced her acne within 4 uses and pretty much eliminated it within 10 uses. She started out using it every day, and now uses it 2 or 3 times per week. Best of all, she has been able to back off of most of her medication, and we are hopeful that she will be able to eliminate all the meds in the near future. As any parent can attest to, kids are very image conscious these days. The change in her confidence and self esteem has just been wonderful to see. She doesn’t hide her face with her hair anymore, and doesnt wear nearly as much makeup.

Most people look for acne creams and washes containing acne fighting ingredients for their face area. My main concern is actually body acne, which I mainly get on my upper back. I have tried a lot of different products and some have worked well for a time, but after a while my body gets used to them and then the breakouts start again.

I’ve had this acne light for 4 months now and it does a really nice job. I really don’t use it regularly, I just use it when I can feel that I have a breakout coming on. At that point, I will use it like twice a day for 3-4 days in a row and the breakout will either never appear or will come up but go away quickly. I like doing it this way since my body doesnt ever build up a resistance. Occasionally I break out on my chest as well, and it works just as well there too. Great stuff for someone who is looking for an effective treatment on the rest of the body.

Living in a house with three other girls (one of them being a former Ms. Kuwait), skin appearance falls under the category of Top 3 daily priorities because I have quite a bit to live up to. I had terrible acne growing up, terrible as in I was called “pineapple face” all throughout high school – my skin looked and felt like the surface of a pineapple and my hair was a completely different story. The aftermath of this acne, once tamed, was unattractively sized pores, blemishes, red spots, and of course, horribly toned skin. I looked way beyond my years chronilogically, and what person looking like that is going to have any friends?

I went to a dermatologist who prescribed me birth control (which made me gain weight), Finacea (which is said to cause growth of hair on frequently used spots), and Tazorac (which if you think peeling because of sunburn is bad, you haven’t seen/felt anything). My skin was so dry, moisturizer couldnt help; I straight up had to use Vitamin E oil to do the job. Sure my lesions were gone, but the size of my pores was still the same. I couldn’t find anything to give me that evenly toned, flawless face look I wanted, nor could the dermatologist suggest or recommend anything for me. I was never the type of girl to carry makeup with me and reapply during the day, but this problem gave me no choice. There is nothing more embarrassing than a caked face and hugging someone only to leave a cafe colored streak on their cashmere :-

I came across Trophy Skin through word of mouth, read and researched it, and thought to myself that if I’ve already spent hundreds beyond hundreds of dollars at the doctor, I might as well give this a try. I would lay underneath this lamp, at night or during the day, 3 times a week, 20 minutes each sitting and only feel slight tingling where the heaviest acne on my face was. Not that it’s a long time, but it gives you an excuse to take 20 minutes to yourself to relax after a long day; listen to music, talk on the phone, or just take a quick power nap as your skin is being beautified, hands free. Where can you go these days to benefit out of relaxing?

My skin looks 150 times much better, I’ve stopped going to any spas to get suffocating skin polishing procedures in attempt to get an even skin tone, I’ve stopped using any medical creams, and stopped taking pills. My pores have become *significantly* smaller, my skin feels so moisturized all the time, best of all: my skin tone is so even that I am entirely comfortable with stepping out of the house with just a dab of tinted moisturizer all over my face.

I went from spending hundreds of dollars on skin medications and makeup to almost nothing but tinted moisturizer.

As a home inspector, I frequently enter attic spaces and crawlspaces under less than ideal conditions. I noticed a few years ago that my arms and back would break out especially during summer time after encountering old insulation in attic spaces and creosate from fireplaces.

My doctor said it was folliculitis and prescribed an antibotic which helped but only for two weeks. It then came back with a vengance. I then went to a Dermatologist who prescribed antibiotic creams (such as Bactroban). These were even less effective and expensive (a small tube cost $50!). For the next year, I then tried several “home” remedies including tea tree oil, tumeric powder, vitamin suppliments and peroxide creams. I even tried the Zeno device but it only zapped one pimple at a time, you have to hold it on the pimple which is hard when it’s on your back and you have to keep buying cartridges for it; very expensive. I purchased the Trophy Skin light 6 months ago and carefully kept the shipping box with every intention of sending it back if it did not work.

I started out using it five days a week, 20 minutes each session, for three weeks. I couldn’t believe it! My back and arms cleared up! I now just use it two or three times a week, 10 minutes each session. This product really does work. I think it’s designed for facial acne but it really cleared up my back and arms. Well worth the cost considering all the money I spent with the dermatologist. I can now take off my shirt at the beach and not be embarrassed. I have my self-confidence back. This product is really great! Thank you Trophy Skin!

I am not a teen…in fact I’m a 53 year old woman, and while having incredibly great skin all my life (even during adolescence) starting going through hell about 4 years ago. It had gotten to the point that I had maybe 2-3 ok days per month, and the rest of the time, a breakout that would usually last 2 days, would fester for 3-4 weeks. I’ve tried it all, but something about this blue-light therapy rang true to me, so without even trying it at a dermatologists office first, I bought one. Within 1 week I saw a difference. Now, 4 weeks later, and having gone through the crucial week of the month, I can honestly say that this is one of the best purchases I’ve EVER made here. My only concern is that my cat always wants to snuggle up to me when this is on and I don’t have goggles for her and am worried that her eyes might be damaged. I keep shooing her away, but the light doesn’t seem to scare her.

I also agree with one of the other reviewers that this is a bit top heavy and easy to knock over…I may try mounting it onto a heavier base as well.

LOVE this product!!!

I thought it was worth leaving feedback given the cost of the device would stop alot of people from trying it out. I’ve had acne issues since I was a teenager and in my mid-30s it gets old. I’ve used numerous treatments both prescription and OTC that any person with acne problems will be familar with:

Accutane- actually used it twice, good response both times however acne came back after a year. Chronically chapped lips from it.

Retina A- made my acne worse.

antiobiotics- temporary relief for a year.

Proactive- lessens outbreak, gets expensive.

I decided to try this out after a good article put out by the AAD (American Academy of Dermatology). The site states the evidence for the efficacy of blue light treatment for acne is limited by the small size and number trials, however at least half of people respond to the treatment. The link to the article is at:

[..]

After ordering the light I received it in 3 business days. Like another poster noted the joint connecting my light to the plastic stand was loose and wobbly on arrival. I did the treatment for 20 minutes/daily before contacting the seller about the issue on the 3rd day. To their credit they shipped out a replacement light and arranged FedEx doorstep pickup for the defective unit at no additional cost to me.

For the three days I used the light I focused on my chin and jawline since that’s where I tend to breakout. I noticed a definite improvement by the third day since I was having daily breakouts in that region. The number and size of the acne was noticeably smaller.

Whether this light will keep being effective over the long-haul I don’t know as alot of treatments seem to lose effectiveness over time. If it does I will update my review. Still I am very pleased that the light actually works and while $200 may seem expensive, it’s not alot if you ask many people with acne IF the treatment works and your not being dinged with recurrent costs with most medications.

I am not one to leave a review, but I felt more then compelled to on this product.

My skin has been a true rollercoaster. I used prescriptions and they did the job well, but with life changes I decided to no longer take them……and so the changes came. From whiteheads and a cystic pimple here and there to recently, where scars, red marks and more took over what once was nearly flawless skin.

I purchased everything under the sun; salicylic acid, sulfur, benz. peroxide, supplements, heat products(ZENO), and more. The digression of my skin took me into a state where I truly did not want to leave my house.

This has all changed with BlueMD. In the 5 days I have been using this product I have noticed changes that may be minute to others but is huge for those of us struggling with acne. The redness and size has gone down by over 50% after just a handful of treatments. The marks are still there from past acne, but I am hopeful that with time they too will reduce.

To know that with so many treatments it may inhibit breakouts from occurring at all makes me excited for my skin’s future and the future of my confidence.

Thank you for a great product!

I bought this product in July ‘09 after a horrible episode of adult onset acne. I couldn’t tame the acne breakouts at all even with trips to the dermatologist. After a week of using this product daily, my facial acne began to disappear. I combine the blue light treatment with professional skin care and it really works.

I now use the blue light treatment 3 times a week at minium to keep acne at bay. I am pleased and would recommend this product.

I have had moderate acne for ten years, and could not find anything to get rid of it without making my skin dry or irritated. I have been on antibiotics in the past, which worked but are not good to be on long-term. This lamp is so great! I have been using it once a day, and it is the most relaxing thing ever! Who would think it also clears up your skin! I have never previously been able to go makeup free in the winter, but now I can and do! :) Great product.

I wish I had this product when I was younger, but after 20 years of experiencing all types of acne, I now have glowing healthy looking skin. So far, I have used Blue MD for a week (20 minutes a day)and I can see that the product is worth every penny. It’s much better than the hand held devices(who can hold it for 20 minutes?). With Blue MD, I can put on my goggles (included) and lay under the light for 20-30 minutes. I love how the head of the light can swivel to accomodate my position. Afterwards, all I needed was a little moisturizer. As a result, my pores are smaller and the texture of my skin is smoother. As explained on the company’s website, the blue light kills the P.acnes bacteria. All I can say is bravo for this product.
