Product Description

The essential amino acid L-Tryptophan helps support relaxation, restful sleep, and feeling better. It plays a part in the synthesis of both melatonin and serotonin, hormones involved with mood and stress response. L-Tryptophan also supports immune functions because it is the body's precursor to the kynurenines that regulate immunity. If needed, L-Tryptophan converts to niacin in the body, which supports circulation, a healthy nervous system, the metabolism of food, and the production of hydrochloric acid for the digestive system. Source Naturals L-Tryptophan is extremely pure and is regularly tested to ensure the highest standards of quality. Hypoallergenic: Contains no yeast, dairy, egg, starch, salt, preservatives, or artificial color, flavor or fragrance.

I come from a long line of semi-insomniacs and have always had difficuly falling asleep and remaining so without waking up every hour or two. Since I have been taking 3 capsules of the tryptophan before bed I have been sleeping like a baby everynight and feel much more refreshed and rested during the day.

I am a true insomniac who does not want to take prescription sleeping pills due to side effects and dependency issues. So I tried this. Works really well for me. Does not knock me out. Just eases me into a natural sleep. Price at Amazon is half of what I would pay at local health food store.

I take this product when I’m stressed and before going to bed at night. It works!

I started taking the standard dosage (3 pills) of this product earlier this year, and I am now migraine free. It’s not that I haven’t had triggers — I can feel the pain coming on and then a tingling sensation, and it goes away.

I also fall asleep more quickly and sleep very soundly most nights, but that’s gravy compared to not needing to touch my migraine meds in many months now.

If you want to try a natural solution for giving your body building blocks for the important chemicals it needs to produce — serotonin, melatonin, and niacin — I highly recommend this product.

I’m a chronic insomniac, but I hate the hung-over, dragged-out feeling the next day after taking over-the-counter sleep meds. Tryptophan is the stuff in turkey that makes people sleepy after Thanksgiving dinner. I take it with the herb valerian, and I quickly zone out with no fuzzy feeling the next day.

This is a great supplement that really helps with sleep and relaxation. As an insomniac I take many medications and supplements to help sleep, and Tryptophan is one of the good ones when taken in conjunction with other things.

I have always been a skeptic of vitamins/supplements. However, due to constant fatigue from not getting enough sleep, I went to my doctor for help. My doctor advised this supplement much to my protest. I thought it would be a waste of money to try it. On the first night of taking the supplement, I felt immediate improvements. Its amazing what this little pill is able to generate. I am able to sleep peacefully and wake up relaxed with no side effects. L-Tryptophan has got to be the best thing since sliced bread. My husband tried it and he says he is able to go to sleep at 3 am after popping one of the pills and is able to wake up at 7 a.m. and feel as if he had 8+ hours of sleep with no grogginess.

Source Naturals L-Tryptophan, 500 mg, Tablets, 120 tablets I have suffered from insomnia since I was about 11 years old and am now 40. This is the only natural product that I have tried that works! It is not an instant fix rather, it’s a cummulative effect. I guess that I really began to notice it’s benefits after about one month.

I also have some anxiety and nervousness so the dose that seems to work best for me is 2-4 tablets in the morning and 4 at night. I feel less anxious and more peaceful throughout the day and actually sleep at night, without worrying about becoming dependent on a chemical sleep aid or anxiety medicine. I highly recommend this product!!

Have been able to come off all meds for depression as well as sleeping pills.

Have had no side effects and same dose continues to work for depression and insomnia.

Give it a try….

My experience with Source Naturals L-Tryptophan 500 mg. capsules has been excellent. Follow the instructions on the label and you will be on your way to feeling better. I recommended it to a friend and he also started feeling better, he had used prescription antidepresants before but he wasn’t getting good results, plus they had side effects he didn’t want. Moreover, they were more expensive.

I personally stay away from refined sugars since I’m sensitive to them and get depressed easily, but for those instances when I feel a little bit down anyway I reach for my bottle of Tryptophan and use it for a couple of days and that’s it, I feel upbeat and better again.

I used this product twenty years ago, before what was ultimately a quality control issue at one specific plant caused the ban of the sale of this supplement for years. It is extremely useful as a sleep aid that will leave you alert in the morning, not hung over as sleeping pills can. For a diabetic like myself, it is also good for cortisol reduction, which reduces stress and can therefore improve glycemic response. I can measure this with my glucose meter and by how I feel.

For me, the effect is immediate. If I take it on Tuesday night, I fall asleep on that particular night, not after taking it for several nights in a row. The only weird side effect I can report is that if I take it on a night when something is on my mind and therefore I would normally be easily roused from sleep, sometimes I will have rather vivid dreams about being “held down” in my bed – not a nightmare, just a dream. However, as long as I sleep I really don’t care about that, but some people might.

Since it has been possible to purchase this product again in the U.S., I have used Source Naturals brand, since this company produces some of the highest quality supplements, along with old established brands such as Solgar. Highly recommended.

I usually take two tablets an hour before bed, and I sleep deeply. Not to mention, I have the wildest, most phantasmagoric dreams from l-tryptophan. These might be quite useful to people trying to lucid dream. the full dosage is three tablets, but I’ve never had to take that many. a bottle of 60 caps could last anywhere from a month to month and a half, so it is a good idea to stock up. Also, it is not a good idea to take MAO inhibitors in conjunction with this. sometimes Valerian / Kava Kava will do the trick and Gaia Herbs “Serenity” is great too, but l-tryptophan is what I mainly use.

I use 1500mg of L-tryptophan nightly to both help with sleep and to help my thinning hair. Sleep is wonderful and it seems my hair is doing better. My doctor recommended this to me.

Just one capsule does the trick for me. Was a bit hesitant at first despite all the rave reviews, concerned I wouldn’t wake up refreshed in the morning, but no problem. Highly recommended, without any side effects!

I don’t use tryptophan for insomnia though it does help me fall asleep. Instead, I tried some for depression issues. I have had chronic depression since a teenager; counseling helps but depression is always there. I started taking tryptophan 5 yrs ago; the effect was immediate! The next day, I felt much better and less anxious, depressed. I have known for decades that I fit all the symptoms of not having enough serotonin in my system but the only thing available in the USA were anti-depressants to affect the way the brain used serotonin. I know immediately when I run out – I get emotional, moody, weepy. This DOES help chronic depression and general malais. I take 2000-2500 mg at night; that seems to be the best dose for my body. This is my choice of helping myself until they are able to manufacture serotonin directly.
