Product Description

The Waterpik WP-100 Ultra Dental Water Jet is clinically proven to be more effective than floss for healthier gums. Most dental professionals recommend brushing and flossing to keep your teeth and gums their healthiest. Unfortunately, nearly 80-percent of Americans don't floss on a regular basis, and most people find flossing to be a painful or unpleasant chore. Finally, there is an effective alternative to flossing that feels great and is simple to complete.

Clinically proven to be 93-percent more effective than flossing.

Get cleaner, healthier gums in just 14 days. View video (requires Flash).

Waterpik Ultra delivers water pressure of 10-90 PSI and 1,200 pulses per minute.
The Waterpik Ultra goes way beyond flossing to keep your gums their healthiest. Waterpik has designed the WP-100 to deliver a water pressure of 10 to 90 PSI with 1200 pulses per minute. This system delivers a clinically proven combination of water pressure and pulsation to remove debris and bacteria lodged deep between teeth and below the gum-line -- three times deeper than brushing alone. In addition, it massages and stimulates the gums to improve circulation and help promote strong and healthy gums. The Waterpik Ultra is so effective that it is clinically proven to be up to 93-percent more effective than flossing at reducing gum bleeding -- a key indicator of impending gum disease.

In fact, there are over 50 published clinical studies that show the Waterpik Dental Water Jet provides significant oral health benefits, for people who wear braces, have diabetes, and have mild to moderate gum disease. That's why Waterpik is the most recommended brand by Dental Professionals. In addition to healthier gums, there is nothing better than the clean, refreshing feeling you'll get after using the Waterpik Ultra. While floss can often leave your gums bleeding, swollen and generally beaten up, the WP-100 makes your mouth feel great. Waterpik guarantees healthier gums in just 14 days. If, after using the Ultra for two weeks, your gums are not healthier, or if you are dissatisfied for any reason, then simply return it for a refund -- no questions asked.

I’ve been using my WP-100 Ultra Dental Water Jet for nearly a month and am quite happy with it. I chose this model because it has a smaller footprint than most of the others and looks attractive on the bathroom counter. But it works great, also. Even though I floss daily, the Waterpik removes particles of food the floss just can’t reach. I highly recommend this machine!

After 17 years of daily use, our WaterPik WP-20 finally stopped working. How’s that for a product providing good service and value!

I started to read the user’s reviews on all the current offerings by WaterPik. I became concerned when I saw more than a normal amount of references to the current lineup of WaterPik’s having a high incidence of DOA and also being extremely loud and noisey. These posts were in the descriptions of the many WP-XX models that have existed for the past few years. However, the NEW WP-100 Ultra caught my eye with some buzzwords as “new and ultra-quiet” and “a small footprint”

Well, I have used it for over a month now and let me tell you that it is just GREAT! It is so much quieter than my previous WaterPik (which really did sound like a mini-jackhammer.. but I learned to live with it for 17 years!) This new unit sort of quietly purrs! And the unit has ten selection pressures which I find to be an extra helpful for occasional sensitive areas.

The new styling is also excellent. It does occupy a lot less space on my countertop. I can only conclude by saying that IF WaterPik had some problems with their previous models, they have solved them all with this new WaterPik WP-100 Ultra model.

To the fella above who claims that he doesn’t need this product, I suggest that he first brush his teeth just after he eats, THEN use the WaterPik WP-100 Ultra. He won’t believe how much jetsom and flotsam will be flushed out from between his teeth and his gums. FYI, you still will need to floss everyday. And, Yes, you must have the nozzle in your mouth BEFORE you turn it on!

Do yourself a favor if you are needing one of these, just spend the $60 for this new model–the WP-100 Ultra and you will be as satisfied as I am! And No, I do not work for WaterPik!

This is the first time I have ever used a waterpik. It works just fine. I never had it leak or squirt where it should not. I followed directions and was careful about increasing the pressure the first few times I used it. It does what it’s supposed to do with no problems.

I have been using Water Piks for years. All Water Piks are great for dental hygiene–effective and fun to use. This unit is the quietest, most compact and easiest to clean. I highly recommend it.

Bought it a couple weeks ago at Walmart for $60. This is my first try at water jet picks. It’s not that loud. I rinse with Listerine after, to get a nice clean feeling. The tank is big enough for one cleaning. The power is more than enough for me; I have it set to a little more than half the power. If I set it too high, it actually hurts. Overall, I’m satisfied with no complaints. I’ve only tried the normal attachment and that’s all I really need. Hopefully it’ll last long. There is a 2 year warranty.

I had a personal waterpik for years, one of the original small models. Had to replace the tubing once, but other than that it kept chugging along with no problems, and probably would have outlasted me, if it were not for the loud noise it was making. I got used to it — for my money, I’ll take having healthy gums over a little annoyance like this any time, but when I saw someone on Amazon to mention that this model is unusually quiet, I decided to retire my old one and give this one a try. A discount from Amazon plus free shipping helped to decide too, of course.

I’ve used it for couple of months now, at least once a day, and so far, I love it! It is indeed very quiet, and with no trade offs in pump performance that I could tell. One other very useful new feature is that the nozzle can be rotated. The rotator wheel is on the handle just where your fingers are, so you can use it easily with the same hand, instead of having to twist your neck and/or the tubing, the most fragile component of the system. Just turn the nozzle where you want to be in your mouth. When done, the tubing coils itself in in its little niche with no effort. There a little button on the handle that releases the nozzle that actually works. There is also another button on the handle that can be used to pause water flow, but I’m not sure how useful that feature is, because it does not pause the pump, just block water flow, causing minor shaking and racket.

Among other things to like about it is a small footprint and a transparent water container. The container comes with a cover, so that you can leave it with water in and not worry about some junk and stuff getting in and ending up in your mouth. I wish the container was a lighter shade of blue, but you can still see through, so you don’t run out of water. It’s probably not good for the pump to run dry.

There are also all kinds of extra different nozzle types. I haven’t used them, so I can’t comment on them, except to note the way they are tucked in inside the container’s cover until you need them, rather than sent in in a plastic bag, with you having to put them somewhere, and then remember where to find them when needed. What you get does not include the waterpik’s new sinus irrigation nozzle, and that is simply because it does not fit this model’s handle. I’d guess pretty soon they will be making one for this model too, but not now.

And finally, it’s just very pleasing to look at. I saw other reviewers nitpicking on this and that not to their liking. Not that I disagree, but come on, nothing is perfect. I also saw others reporting problems like water leaking out. Can’t substantiate any of them. If you have such a problem, it’s not an inherent problem. Must be a defective gasket somewhere that just needs to be replaced under warranty. Overall, it’s just a great little appliance. Do yourself a favor and get one.

This is my fourth or fifth water pik. I use it every night. They last about 4 years tops and then it’s time to get another one. The size of this one is a nice feature, a little taller and narrower. Looks nicer out on the sink. The top part that holds all the accessories is terrific because it’s a nice top on the reservoir and you always know where all the accessories and extras are. I read that someone keeps the reservoir filled and liked the top part so as to cover up the water. HELLO???? Why is anyone keeping water in there all day? Use it at night, empty it by using the water pik, and then cover it with the nice white top and go to bed!

The pik works great. The on-off switch is nice. The pressure control dial is accurate and responsive. It is a littler quieter than my last waterpik. It starts as soon as you turn it on. I keep the pressure control in the middle. After all my years of waterpikking & flossing, midrange is good for me. You’d think I’d be higher but no, midrange is a very strong pulse and good for me.

The reservoir is too small for me but NO PROBLEM. I keep a plastic wine glass in the bathroom and fill it up along with the reservoir. Midway through waterpikking, I dump the glass of water in the reservoir. No stopping and taking the reservoir off the base. I dump the water in while water-pik’ing and with the machine still on. In fact, I never take the reservoir off the base. I fill the aforementioned plastic wine glass with warm water and dump it into the reservoir. With my particular dollar store plastic wine glass, it takes 2 1/2 filled glasses of warm water and the other 1/2 is left for the end when I need just a little more water in the reservoir.

I really like the way this waterpik looks and functions. Having to replenish the water in the reservoir is not an issue for me at all. If I had to stop the pik, take the reservoir off the base, turn on the water to fill it, secure the reservoir tightly back on the base, that would get old quickly. Remember my tip about replenishing the water and you will love this waterpik.

EDITED ON 2-14-08: I still love this WaterPik. Everything I said above continues to be true. I just ordered this yesterday as a gift for someone and today I’m ordering it for someone else. A really really good WaterPik.

Wow! I’m really impressed! I’ve had trouble cleaning under my bridge. I can fish floss under there and clean it good, but it takes a lot of time. Now I just blast it clean in minutes. It does a good job of cleaning my back teeth. I’ve never been totally satisfied with just flossing. Now they feel perfectly clean. I love this device! It doesn’t replace flossing. It does a great job under the gums, but I still feel cleaner after flossing. It’s great as a between brushing “touchup”. I recommend it to anyone. My mouth hasn’t felt this clean in years. I feel like I’ve come from the Dentist after a cleaning. Thats a great feeling to have every day.

Waterpik is a great product, and my dental hygienist agrees that using one has made all the difference in the health of my teeth and gums. I had to scrap my old one after my cat chewed through the little tube leading to the jet, and was very pleasantly surprised to discover that the design has been improved in several ways: (1) it has a smaller “footprint” which takes much less space on my bathroom counter; (2) it is significantly quieter, so I can now use it late at night without fear of disturbing the neighbors; (3) the little tube to the jet is now designed in such a manner that when you replace the jet in the bracket after use, the tube coils neatly and disappears into the body of the device (safe from little cat teeth); and (4) the whole device is more streamlined and attractive-looking. Others have correctly noted that the well for holding water is not as large as in the older models, however I have not found this to be a problem, and it only takes a second to add more water if you need it. Nice to see a product that has been intelligently redesigned!

I have used a Water Pik intermittently for decades; in fact, I used the same one over the years. At one point, it was on the shelf in storage for some years and I literally nearly lost my teeth in the dentist’s chair due to gum disease. I took out the Water Pik, bought new Pik Pockets (gingival attachments), and went to work. Adding a few drops of tea tree oil to the water each time, along with appropriate rinses, I was able to reverse the gum disease and save my teeth. My dentist was absolutely amazed.

I hesitated to upgrade to the new model because it seems to get mixed reviews, but eventually I broke the handle on my old one. I ordered this model through Amazon and it has been fantastic. It runs quietly, takes up less counter space and weighs less than the older model. It has a tip release feature that helps protect against breakage. You must take care to insert the tip properly with each use, or it will leak, but I’ve had no malfunctions with mine. It also has a pause button under your thumb, which is a huge improvement functionally. I love mine!

UPDATE — I was initially disappointed in 2008 when my Water Pik began to leak from the connect point between Pik Pocket and machine. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that the Pik Pocket was cracked on its connector part, so I threw it away and inserted a new one. Works just fine now! Simple solution.

I have used this unit for a few months now and as they say here in New England it’s “wicked” nice.

Pros:

It has a powerful jet, or a very mild jet, according to where the dial is set. It has an off button on the nozzle handle, which works very easily. It is very easy to keep clean.

The unit has an optional tongue scraper head, which is pivotal in oral hygiene. You’ll know what I mean after you use a tongue scaper water unit for the first time.

It’s compact quiet, and the little hose is pretty easy to keep from getting snarled up in itself.

I only use plain water in the unit. This is a nicely made unit for a good price.

Cons: a little pricey, but for me, the power of this unit is well worth it.

Follow up: This stopped working after one year. I think it should have lasted a lot longer than one year!

I purchased this product back in October 2006 after being told by my dentist I was at the beginning stages of periodontal disease. He suggested I purchase the waterpik or face gum surgery. Needless to say I chose the waterpik instead of spending over $1000 for surgery. I just came back from my checkup in March 2007, the dentist says my gums have healed wonderfully and no surgery is needed. It has all been because I took my dentist’s advice and invested a little bit of money instead of spending way too much money for surgery. I am one believer in the Waterpik.. ; )

Before I begin, I have to say that had it not been for of your helpful comments, I wouldn’t have purchased the Waterpik.

My teeth, albeit doing a lot better than the past, could benefit from something extra. Multiple flossings per day had irritated my guns to the point of redness. Also, I wasn’t very convinced that flossing was removing every little piece of dirt between the teeth.

I need action. I needed relief!

…enter the Waterpik WP-100. It has reduced my gum irritation tremendously, while keeping between my teeth cleaner. I agree with a few of the reviewers that anything less than 6 = waste of time. I usually just leave it at 10.

Pros:

It works! That’s all you need to know!

Compact

Inexpensive

Cons:

Reservoir is big, but not big enough. +20-25% more would be better

The tube NEEDS to be longer. This is one of my biggest gripes. The coiled tube is a nice touch, but they need to make the tube like 25-50% longer.

I waited 1 1/2 months for this product on Amazon and at one point was planning to cancel my purchase. I am VERY glad I didn’t!

I’ve always prided myself on my good teeth. I thought that flossing and brushing was enough…that was until I went to the dentist, and he said I had the beginnings of periodontal disease. That scared the hell out of me.

I went home and started using the Sonicare I had bought but never plugged in. That was good, but not enough – I bought a Waterpik because obviously flossing wasn’t cutting it.

I had never used a Waterpik before, and it was some revelation! I’m still amazed that there are some Waterpik oldtimers who say this machine isn’t strong enough…uh, for what? Peeling paint off a brick wall? This thing absolutely knocked my socks off when it came to the PRESSURE.

I started out at 2 and worked my way up to 7 – it still stings like mad, but I’m getting used to it by now. I put Listerine in the tank to increase the anti-bacteria result.

My dentist went on vacation, and I had to cancel another appointment, so it happened that almost two months had elapsed since the last time I had seen him. In that time, I faithfully brushed with the Sonicare four times a day and used the Waterpik at least once (several tankfuls of water and Listerine worth.)

Regarding the leaking people talk about – the only time the tank leaks, I notice, is if I put my fingers on the seal when I’m refilling it. If I’m careful to keep my fingers away from that seal, the tank is water tight.

So when I returned for my check-up, the dentist was AMAZED. He wasn’t sure what I had done, but he said my gums looked pink and healthy! He had said initially I’d have to get my teeth cleaned every three months because I must be one of those people who gets a tartar build up quicker than other people…well, I had worked religiously on scaling back the plaque. (I had also bought a dental mirror so I could check the back of my front teeth for telltale plaque residue.)

Hmmm, no comment about that plaque…was it because there WASN’T any? My dentist asked me if I had been eating because there was so little build up (I had to tear that out of him because I KNEW he didn’t want to give me credit for working that hard on my dental hygiene!)

The dentist HADN’T recommended a Waterpik, but I knew I had to go to the extreme to beat back the periodontal enemy. My teeth are so clean, they squeak!

Purchased this Waterpik to replace a Grossan Nasal Hydropulse machine that went belly-up. I have had this unit several weeks, and like it very much. It has the ability to increase the pressure the water comes out to an effective rate for sinus flushing, and does a nice job of “pulsing” the water out. I just put one of my nasal tip pieces from the Grossan unit onto the end of one of the waterpiks.

I mix up and sift 2 parts sea salt and 1 part baking soda for my solution. I make up a tub big enough to last several weeks. I add one level teaspoon to the basin before filling with comfortably warm tap water. Baking soda moderates the salt, so it does not sting your nose.

The Waterpik has pressure settings from 2 – 10. I can use most of the basin full for nasal flushing with the pressure set on “6″, then switch tips on the machine, turn down the pressure to “2″ and do my teeth. I fill the basin again with warm water, and flush the lines out to avoid any clogging or other problems. I put it on full pressure for this, and it goes very quickly.

I have a bad cold right now. I have been using the Waterpik 3x/day after having blown my nose as well as possible (without blowing too hard). Lots more comes out, and I can breathe well for a few hours. Very effective.

I like it that I can do my sinuses and teeth with the same unit, and do it on one basin filling. I don’t use the white top piece that holds the assessories. I stuffed it in a drawer. It is just one more thing to have to fuss with when I want to fill the basin. When I am done flushing the unit, I take a kleenex and dry out the base area of the unit, and put the basin resting upside down over the base of the unit. (I have it leaning against the mirror to keep it there) I think it does

better for drying the unit out between uses.
